The Book of Revelation is front and center on multiple thousands of videos and internet sites in interpreting the War in Israel as some kind of scenario leading up to the return of Christ. It is possible, or even likely, that embedded within our present Book of Revelation in the New Testament, there is a pre-Christian version, one that never mentions Jesus at all? Given the totally Christo-Centric focus of the book--how is that even conceivable? In this video I present that such is indeed the case--and we can recover the "original" with some degree of confidence. As it turns out it appears to reflect the perspectives of various Jewish apocalyptic Jewish movements in late 2nd Temple Judaism, in reacting to Nero and his moves against Jews and followers of Jesus.

,,fx4CBugxIHk,UCg2vrLOhBWk7ZQy3pnzIYgQ, Religion, channel_UCg2vrLOhBWk7ZQy3pnzIYgQ, video_fx4CBugxIHk,Millions of believing Christians, as well as theologians and historians, are convinced that the earliest faith in Jesus' resurrection had to do with the assertion that his dead body was revived in a tomb--and that he walked out of that tomb on the third day after his death, as a flesh and blood human being--wounds and all. This is not in fact the case. That is a LATE view found in Luke and John--but is totally contradicted by our two earliest and most reliable sources: Paul & Mark. The earliest believers in Jesus' resurrection would not have been bothered in the least with his physical flesh and blood body "left behind," in a tomb, or as Paul put it, shed off like an old garment. In this interview we hear Prof. John Dom Crossan on this topic, followed by my own take on the main texts related to the subject that are most often overlooked.

,1,This is a video recording of a LIVE video lecture on Zoom I did with my students today in my "Jesus and the Dead Sea Scrolls" class. This is deep and complex stuff, but utterly fascinating as you get into it.

,1,A detailed survey of our earliest sources on James--whose proper name was Jacob of Yaaqov--the brother of Jesus, was written out of the standard master narrative of Christian history. What can we know about James, by trying to reassemble all the disparate strands of evidence, from the Gospels, Acts, Paul, and our earliest post-New Testament sources.
This was part of a lecture to my Research Group in our monthly Zoom meeting. If you would like to be a part of this in the future here are the details:

,1,In this video I offer a historical evaluation of an interview Pastor John Hagee recently did on TBN offering an overview of his general prophetic interpretation of the "End Times," and what he sees as lying ahead. He presents a fairly standard "Dispensationalist" view of things, and I present my own evaluation of the texts references as well as other that are relevant--questioning the validity of his interpretations on historical grounds.
