The department spends billions of rands each year on private accommodation for students through mainly the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. As part of their ongoing investment in on-campus housing, the minister unveiled a newly built 200-bed accommodation facility at the TUT eMalahleni Campus in Mpumalanga. The minister, along with various funding bodies, further engaged with students at the Middelburg TVET College on the various funding opportunities for their studies.
