All Family Dollar locations are in jeopardy of permanently closing after their parent company, Dollar Tree, made a shocking announcement. Dollar Tree is pursuing a potential buyer of Family Dollar, which would mark the second time the company would be sold in less than ten years.
This news comes after it was announced that nearly 1,000 Family Dollar locations are closing due to poor performance. Slashing 10% of the struggling company's retail footprint may not be enough to save them. Dollar Tree has thrown in the proverbial white towel and given up on the ultra-low-cost retailer. Aside from clear issues with management, Family Dollar is suffering due to stiff competition from Walmart, Target, and even the Chinese online retailer Temu.

In a dramatic escalation of tensions along the Texas border, Governor Greg Abbott has deployed additional troops, including one battalion of National Guard and State Guard members, signaling a fortified stance against the federal government's immigration policies. This move comes amidst a heated standoff between Texas and the Biden administration, with Abbott vowing to resist any attempt to federalize the National Guard.
The conflict reached a boiling point when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Department of Homeland Security, allowing federal border officials to dismantle state-installed razor wire along the Rio Grande. Undeterred by the court's decision, Abbott and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton remain steadfast in their opposition to federal intervention, with Abbott declaring, "This is not over," in a defiant social media post.
Adding fuel to the fire, Texas lawmakers recently passed Senate Bill 4, granting state and local police sweeping powers to arrest and prosecute illegal immigrants crossing the southern border.
