The California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), formerly the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), is the leader in collecting data and disseminating information about California's healthcare infrastructure, promoting an equitably distributed healthcare workforce, and publishing valuable information about healthcare outcomes. The change to HCAI took place through 2021-2022 budget Legislation. HCAI is continuing under the same leadership and staff and will continue its work to monitor the construction, renovation, and seismic safety of California's hospitals and skilled nursing facilities and provide loan insurance to facilitate the capital needs of California's not-for-profit healthcare facilities.
