Sky News host Caleb Bond says New York City’s plans to extend its contract with local hotels to house illegal migrants is a “ridiculous situation”. This contract with hotels will cost taxpayers $1 billion over the course of three years which is almost five times more than the original projected cost. NYC Mayor Eric Adams estimates the total cost of this program to be more than $12 billion. “I reckon I’m going to go over to New York and call myself an illegal migrant so I can actually get a hotel room there and not have to pay $500 a night for it,” Mr Bond said. “If you were in the US, watching that, living in New York City – struggling to get by … you would be absolutely livid.”
