Marshall Islands has called for more US compensation over the legacy of massive US nuclear testing. The Marshall Islands is demanding compensation in exchange for the renewal of a strategic agreement governing bilateral relations. Its foreign minister told a US congressional hearing an MoU covering terms to extend his country’s COFA was signed on January 2023. He claimed the MoU was signed without proper domestic authorization and under the pressure of a deadline for inclusion in Biden’s budget.
