Holland said he realized he had an alcohol problem after deciding to do Dry January following a 'very, very boozy' Christmas season. During the month of sobriety, Holland found himself consumed by thoughts of alcohol, which he said alarmed him. He said, 'All I could think about was having a drink ... It just really scared me.' Holland added that he felt socially isolated and restricted during that initial period of sobriety. 'I felt like I couldn't be social. I felt like I couldn't go to the pub and have a lime soda. I couldn't go out for dinner. I was really, really struggling. And I started to really worry that maybe I had an alcohol problem,' Holland said. To dispel his doubts, Holland decided to extend his sobriety to six months. By his birthday in June, he said he felt like a significant shift had taken place. In that time, he said he experienced unparalleled happiness, better sleep, improved problem-solving skills, increased mental clarity, and a sense of well-being. Holland explained, 'I was definitely addicted to alcohol, not shying away from that at all.' He said his personal journey inspired his mother to follow in his footsteps, adding that 'she's loving it.' Holland expressed his astonishment at the impact sobriety has had, declaring, 'I can't believe the difference that I feel from not drinking.
