US marines recovered a Chinese balloon from the sea on February 5 off the coast of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a day after it was shot down, according to still images from the US Defense Department. Photos also show a photo of an F-22 raptor jet taking off to engage with the Chinese balloon on February 4, as well as the US Navy searching for debris at sea and preparing to ship off recovered balloon parts for inspection from February 7 to 10. On February 13, China accused the US of flying high-altitude balloons over its airspace without permission more than 10 times since the beginning of 2022, which Washington denied. This comes after the US shot down a Chinese spy balloon on February 4, widening the dispute between the two countries and prompting US diplomat Antony Blinken to cancel his trip to Beijing to ease tensions. #USChinaRelations #SpyBalloons #USDefenseDepartment #WorldNews n18oc_world n18oc_crux CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
