Sunak: Ukrainian pilots will start UK training in a few weeks

Ukrainian pilots will begin training in the UK in “just a few weeks” time, Rishi Sunak has said, as he highlighted British support for Ukraine. Making a statement in the House of Commons, the Prime Minister said: “We have backed Ukraine’s fight for their freedom and sovereignty since the start. As the first country in the world to train Ukrainian troops. “First in Europe to provide lethal weapons. First to commit tanks. First to provide long range missiles. “And now we’re at the forefront of a coalition to equip the Ukrainian air force, with Ukrainian pilots starting their training here in just a few weeks time.” Earlier this year, Downing Street announced that London and the Hague “would work to build an international coalition to provide Ukraine with combat air capabilities, supporting with everything from training to procuring F-16 jets”.
