Michael Cohen accused Donald Trump of asking him to increase the value of his assets based on a number “arbitrarily elected” by the former president. Testifying against his former boss in a $250 million civil fraud trial, he told the court his role was to “reverse engineer” the value of assets in order to achieve the number Mr Trump had chosen. Cohen also piled blame on Mr Trump when asked to recount the federal crimes he had pleaded guilty to in 2018. He said he committed one of the charges - lying to Congress about Trump’s efforts to land a property in Russia - “at the direction and benefit of Mr. Trump”. After the court broke for lunch, Mr Trump lambasted Cohen, saying his record is “horrible” and is “not a credible witness”. Judge Arthur Engoron had told Cohen not to speak to reporters in the hallway. #trump #fraud #trial #cohen Subscribe to The Telegraph with our special offer: just £1 for 3 months.
