New polling suggests Australians want closer ties with China despite military threat

New polling from the Lowy Institute has suggested the majority of Australians want closer ties with China but believe it poses a military threat. The polls show 42 per cent of those surveyed believe Australia should send troops to assist Taiwan if China was to invade. Around three-quarters of those surveyed are convinced Australia will be drawn into a war in Asia due to our US alliance.
