The short comedy episodes were used to fill gaps between broadcast and live television when scheduled programs didn’t align perfectly. The episode features fireproof carpets in fire stations, model car races, a bank robbery, and an elephant swimming in a tiny pool. The series was a presentation of KTTV program sales with Willie Geiger as co. producer. Jim Hawthorne (November 20, 1918 – November 6, 2007) was an American radio personality and comic actor. He was a disk jockey pioneer of “free form” radio. He also produced “Quicky Quiz”, which was another comedic series like “Funny World”. He did a daily five-minute weather show on Channel 4 in 1952 and had a radio program titled “The Hawthorne Thing” originate in NBC’s Hollywood Radio City. These mentions are only a few of the many accomplishments of Jim Hawthorne’s career as a public figure and comedian.
