Waterfront brawl erupts after group assault black dock worker in Montgomery, Alabama #shorts

A brawl at a waterfront park in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday, August 5, ended with multiple people being detained by police, but two days later, local media said, no suspects were in custody. In footage from the scene, a Black dock worker is violently assaulted by a white man before multiple others rush in to join the altercation. According to Montgomery Advertiser, the confrontation began when the dock worker was trying to move a pontoon boat so that a city-owned riverboat could dock. On Sunday, after videos of the brawl went viral on social media, the Montgomery Police Department (MPD) said it had issued at least four warrants related to the incident and would provide more information Monday, the Montgomery Advertiser reported. Montgomery Mayor Steven L Reed issued a statement on Sunday saying police had “acted swiftly to detain several reckless individuals for attacking a man who was doing his job” and said warrants were “being signed.” “This was an unfortunate incident which never should have occurred,” Reed continued. “As our police department investigates these intolerable actions, we should not become desensitised to violence of any kind in our community,” he said. On Monday afternoon, Reed told media that authorities were “fully engaged” in the investigation and taking the incident “very seriously.” When asked why no was in custody, Reed said further details would be provided at a press conference scheduled by police for 1pm Tuesday, according to WSFA, a Montgomery television station.
