‘No militaristic overtone’: Story of Gallipoli is about ‘hanging on’

The Herald Sun’s Patrick Carlyon says the story of Gallipoli is about “hanging on”. “There’s no triumph to it, there’s no militaristic overtone,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “There was these poor blokes who landed in the wrong place and were looking up at the enemy for the next eight months. And the fact that so many survived and that they clung on in such miserable circumstances really is … just a great story to be told.”
