Sky News host Peta Credlin says Rupert Murdoch has helped keep free speech and good journalism alive. Rupert Murdoch has announced he will retire as Chairman of Fox and News Corp at 92 years old after 70 years in the media industry. Mr Murdoch’s eldest son, Lachlan Murdoch, will take over as sole chairman of both companies his father has led. “Indeed, in his statement today, his parting words as he passed the baton to his son were about protecting freedom of speech and freedom of thought,” Ms Credlin said. “On the left, he’s got his critics; but don’t we all? Anyone who’s any good has their critics. Still, it’s hard to think of a more significant Australian businessman, or a more significant global media figure, in our lifetime.”
