She escaped the North Korean regime and lived in hiding for years. Human rights activist Grace Jo shares her incredible story of escaping real oppression and finding freedom. -- Grace Jo is a North Korean defector who suffered from starvation and family loss. She was repatriated twice to North Korea and imprisoned by the Chinese government, but escaped with the help of a pastor in 2006. In 2008, she and her family were rescued by the UNHCR and resettled in the US. Today, she serves as a vice president for NKinUSA, an organization that helps North Korean defectors with rescue, resettlement, and emergency assistance.
