'OceanGate were warned' about Titan sub safety, says Titanic director James Cameron - BBC News

Titanic director and submersible expert James Cameron has told the BBC that the deep submergence community had previously raised concerns about OceanGate's vehicle, and had even written to the company saying telling them "you are going on a path to catastrophe". He compared the Titan's tragedy to the loss of the Titanic itself and her crew in 1912, calling it a "terrible irony". "We now have another wreck that is based on unfortunately the same principles of not heeding warnings," he said, following the discovery of debris from the sub in the ocean.
