The White House celebrates Tuesday's elections. Vice President Kamala Harris says "it was a good night for democracy" and "from California to Kansas, Ohio to Virginia, the voters said…the government should not be telling a woman what to do with her body." Glenn Youngkin (R-VA). House passes an amendment to the Transportation Department spending bill that cuts the salary of Secretary Pete Buttigieg to one dollar. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas gets questions on immigration policy from Republican Senators, as the Senate is expected to tie U.S. border security reforms to a bill that also funds Ukraine in its war with Russia. Secretary of State Blinken says neither Hamas nor Israel can govern Gaza long term, so it will be up to the Palestinian Authority, which is in power now only in the West Bank. A U.S. House hearing about antisemitism on college campuses is interrupted repeatedly by pro-Palestinian protesters.
