Labor's 'restraint in spending' reason for budget surplus: Stephen Jones

Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones says a higher-than-expected budget surplus has come from strong employment numbers and a “restraint in spending” while his treasury “pay down” the previous government’s debt. “More people in work means less payments out and more tax revenue coming in,” Mr Jones told Sky News Australia. “We’ve had strong employment numbers but also strong government discipline.”
