Australia sets record in job creation under new government: Chalmers

Treasurer Jim Chalmers says Australians should take pride in the significant strides the nation has made in the past year, having created a record number of jobs under a new government and achieving an unemployment rate at a near 50-year low. “Over the past 12 months, the most jobs created under a new government on record and unemployment near a 50-year low,” Mr Chalmers said during parliamentary Question Time on Tuesday. “Wages have started moving again after nearly a decade of stagnation and deliberate suppression. “We have begun the hard yards of repairing our nation's finances."
