Vic government to ‘push’ infrastructure sports projects despite axing Commonwealth Games

Victoria Commonwealth Games Delivery Minister Jacinta Allan says the state’s government will continue to “push” its current sporting infrastructure projects despite cancelling the Commonwealth Games. “Whilst as the Premier has outlined, the Commonwealth Games in 2026 will not be proceeding in regional Victoria,” she said at a press conference on Tuesday. “Each and every one of the community sporting infrastructure projects that we had been in detail planning and design and conversations with councils and local communities. “Each one of those sporting infrastructure facilities will be going ahead and we will be wanting to push on and complete those projects with those local communities following consultation with them.”
