George Orwell’s 1984, Book of a Lifetime | Julia Muehler | TEDxYouth@MIS

I have chosen to center my talk around the dystopian novel 1984 and the authors capability to create “Another World” using simulated reality. This novel is Orwell’s revolutionary way to portray the consequences of totalitarianism, both in the past and the future. I think it is relevant to today because of the increasing change happening in the world, which might concern everyone in a different way. I lived in the United States for more than half of my life, but my whole family is actually German. I now live in Munich, Germany where I attend Munich International School. Through all the changes I have gone through in my life, swimming has stayed constant in my life. In this international environment I was able to partake in various activities such as Model United Nations. As a young adult today I want to be able to express my concerns about the world as everyone can relate to them in some way.
