Taxpayers are forking out $7,000 a week since April, totalling $100,000 thus far, to maintain security guards ensuring non-Indigenous individuals refrain from ascending the culturally significant Mount Warning. The revelation follows the October closure of the mountain, a popular local and tourist spot with 127,000 annual climbers, announced by the NSW Government due to indigenous groups deeming it culturally unsafe.
