As the images go by quickly, you may find it easier to focus on the headlines and highlighted words, pause when needed, or play at a slower speed. If you want to find the sources, simply type the headlines into your browser. You may be surprised with the additional articles and videos that pop up. For a literal "birds eye view" of the carnage and areas spared from the flames. I recommend this YouTube video by Hawaii Real Estate: https://youtu.be/7PSYNqZqAVs?si=n8NJ1ublOSC_nk9X This video seeks to examine the August 2023 Wildfires on Maui in the Hawaiian Islands. Specifically, in the former Lahaina Capitol City where royal families had ruled for hundreds of years. The video shows headlines, images, and excerpts from various online sources. The perspectives portrayed within may not align with some and there are often conflicting articles (Fact Checkers/Debunkers and Trolls) that muddy the waters. We ask that you use your own discernment to determine if the information resonates. The intention behind this creation is for educational and spiritual purposes, aiming to stimulate conversation, awareness, empathy, and to expand thinking among its viewers. The bigger picture becomes clearer by watching the drone footage. While many areas were completely wiped out, the fire appears to have selectively passed over certain homes and establishments. Vehicles were melted on roadways while vegetation near them seemed largely untouched. *Trees and plants are more flammable that cars* and yet, in many cases, the plants around these areas were spared, much like what we saw in the fires of Paradise, California. Although the first half of the video is rather dark, that last half salutes the indomitable spirit of the Hawaiian people, and how they pulled together with manpower and resources to help those who lost everything. They exemplify the true Spirit of Aloha. While climate may be an issue, I don't believe it is the issue that needs to change. It's the honesty and transparency of governments and the agencies that are supposed to serve the people (but not BBQ'd!). My heartfelt sympathy, as well as thoughts are prayers, go out to the families and friends of Maui.
