New figures show Queensland has the highest number of roadside births in the country, with 448 women having to deliver their babies on the side of the highway in 2021, according to Sky News host Amanda Stoker. “Most of these cases occur in regional areas where distances to the closest hospital can be in the hundreds of kilometres,” Ms Stoker said. “A situation that’s got a lot worse under Labor as they’ve been closing on mass, rural birthing units.”
