Binney, Sr. a long-time resident of Montecito and Los Angeles, California. In 1930, Binney co-founded Binney, Chase & Van Horne, a successful insurance business that was still in operation through 2018. These home movies show various family activities but the locations and people in them are unknown. Apparently the family was fairly affluent (just to afford home movies required a certain amount of largesse) and based on their clothes and lifestyle, one can assume they were not a typical American family from the period which, of course, is considered part of the Depression. This film shows what must be the first year or two in the life of Binney's son, Albert A. Binney, Jr., who was born in the early 1930s. The film shows the toddler being pushed in a beautiful perambulator (:43), being held by his father (1:15), playing with a rattle (2:33), the family home (2:52) possibly in Montecito or Pasadena, as well as a host of relatives and Albert Jr's friendly teddy bear (5:42). At (6:43) there is an amusing segment with the older Binney serving tea to his wife. At (8:42) the young boy is shown with his Taylor-Tot baby stroller/walker. At (9:49) he is fed. At (10:13) there is a segment shot at a private beach club with a large sign reading, "Private Beach and Pier". The film concludes with shots of the boy enjoying a day at the beach (or it might be a large lake or swimming hole).
