Potential reforms to Queensland birth certificates

Queensland Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman has flagged possible changes to birth certificates in Queensland, which would recognise trans and gender-diverse people. Ms Fentiman flagged reforms to the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act at yesterday's Budget Estimates hearing. One of the changes could include removing the requirement for people who undergo sex reassignment surgery to change the gender on their birth certificate.
