Israel is likely to sell its main battle tank, the much-hyped Merkava, for the first time ever. An Israeli Defence Ministry official said two countries were set to buy the Merkava, including one in Europe. This would be the first ever export of the Israeli armoured vehicle, at a time when demand for military equipment is peaking. The potential sale would likely include the older Merkava Mark 2, and some of the Merkava Mark 3 tanks.
