'11 Hikers Dead and 12 Missing After Indonesia Volcano Erupts'. 11 hikers have been found dead in Indonesia after the eruption of Mount Marapi on Sunday. 12 others remain missing after search and rescue efforts were halted on Monday following a second, smaller volcanic eruption. Thick columns of ash were spewed as high as 3,000 meters in the air. It’s left nearby towns and villages blanketed by tons of volcanic debris. Officials say around 75 climbers had been in the area when the volcano suddenly erupted. So far, 52 people have been rescued.
