Data reveals Queenslanders are dying years earlier than those in other states and territories with the median age of death across the Sunshine State just shy of 80 years old. This compares with the national median age of 82 years old making it the worst outcome for Queensland since the late 1990s. The statistics have baffled healthcare professionals as to why action on lifespan has not been a priority for the government in recent years.
