'Revenge' Sacking, Wagner Purge, Ukraine Strike | Russia Shorn Of Generals As Military In Disarray

Russia has lost two army generals within a span of 24 hours, one to a Ukrainian missile strike and another to fissures among the military. On July 11, a Ukrainian missile slammed into a hotel in the coastal town of Berdyansk that had been taken over by the Russian military, killing General Oleg Tsokov. A day later Major-General Ivan Popov alleged he had been sacked for apprising the military brass about problems in the "battle sphere as well as supplies". Meanwhile, Gen. Sergei Surovikin, head of aerospace forces, is among generals detained, suspended or fired, as part of a reported purge against Wagner loyalists in the military.
