Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says. About 1 in 36, or 2.8%, of children have been identified as having ASD, according to the most recent CDC estimates. The developmental disability is nearly four times more common among boys than girls. Over the years, many people have claimed that vaccines are linked to or cause ASD.
