'More home secretaries in Rwanda than asylum seekers': Tories criticised on immigration bill

Stephen Kinnock, the shadow immigration minister, criticised the government's illegal migration bill after it was returned from the Lords with a series of amendments that Robert Jenrick said threatened the bill's aim of deterring small boats. Jenrick told MPs: '[The bill] is riddled with exceptions and get-out clauses as currently placed in by the other place. If that happens it will simply not work.' The Tory immigration minister then urged MPs to send the bill back to 'the other place' [referring to the House of Lords] and 'respect the will of the elected house'. Stephen Kinnock launched a blistering attack on the Rwanda plan, calling it 'fundamentally flawed' and a 'shambolic farce'.
