Turkey has agreed to back Sweden’s bid to join the military alliance, NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said on July 10. Turkey’s decision was interpreted as an indication that the US would sell Turkey the F-16 fighters and other armaments it has demanded. Ankara has been requesting for forty new F-16s and upgrade packages for its seventy-nine existing fighters to sustain its air capabilities.
