More than 40 people have died following torrential rain in northern India that has unleashed catastrophic flooding and landslides across the region. The intense rainfall has demolished buildings, ripped down bridges, swept away vehicles and breached dams, with the worst of the destruction centred in the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh. “It is an unimaginable situation. It is like a doomsday scenario unfolding before our eyes,” Sushil Singh, a resident of Kullu, told the Telegraph. Subscribe to The Telegraph with our special offer: just £1 for 3 months.
