I Helped Start The Mexican Mafia

After his father was gunned down and killed, Conrad Donald, "Big D" Garcia wanted to become a cop. Instead, Big D vented his anger in gang life. In prison he was a founding member of what would become one of the biggest, most feared gangs in history, the Mexican Mafia. He became a boxing champion in every facility he entered and performed more serious acts of violence out of the ring. After serving more than 30 years, Big D had become a prison celebrity. His conversion to Christianity sent shock waves through cells from Folsom to San Quentin. I'm Chris Ahrens and I interviewed Big D several times for the documentary film I directed D.O.P.E.
