Thousands evacuated in the Philippines as active volcano erupts

Nearly 13,000 people in the Philippines have been evacuated from their homes - as one of the country's most active volcanoes began spewing lava and sulfuric gas. Authorities have recommended anyone living in a 6-kilometre radius of Mount Mayon leave due to the threat of rockfalls and landslides.
