NYPD rescues teen dangling over train tracks in heroic moment

Officers with the New York Police Department (NYPD), with the help of good Samaritans, rescued a teenager dangling over train tracks in Queens, New York, on October 19. Body camera footage released by the NYPD shows the teenager teetering on the side of an overpass between Queens Boulevard and Skillman Avenue. Two officers and a construction worker climbed onto a railing and reached over a high wall to pull him to safety. According to a local news report, the teenager climbed over the wall of the bridge’s overpass to get a closer look at the trains below and became stuck. Witnesses held the legs of one of the responding officers as he reached down to grab the teen’s arms, local media said. Speaking to local media, one of the officers involved in the rescue thanked the civilians who rushed to assist in the rescue. “It was great to see and witness that the public worked with us and we were able to save the teenager’s life,” he said.
