Tasmania Labor Opposition MPs could 'cross the floor' to support Hobart stadium

UTS Chief Economist Tim Harcourt says there may be a “split” Tasmanian Labor Opposition in coming days as the debate for a stadium joint-funded by the AFL and the Tasmanian government continues to heat up. The Australian Football League has granted Tasmania the 19th team licence provisional of the local government supplying a three-year, $240 million package towards the new $715 million stadium being built. “I understand three members may cross the floor to support the stadium,” Mr Harcourt told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “And of course, there is David O’Byrne, the independent Labor MP and a very good footballer at Adelaide Uni, he may also vote with the government as well."
