What is Quantum Reversal?

A team from the Austrian Academy of Sciences recently announced a breakthrough in quantum technology that allows them to speed up, slow down, and even reverse the time of a given system. It all comes down to the strange and mysterious properties of the quantum world. By developing a "rewind protocol," the team said they were able to revert a photon to its original state before passing through a crystal. While this is an exciting prospect, scaling up the technique to larger systems like humans could prove extremely difficult, if not impossible. It would take millions of years to rejuvenate a person for less than a second, so it doesn't make sense in that regard. But, that doesn't mean the discovery is without practical applications. For example, researchers could reverse the qubit states of a quantum processor, which would enable them to correct errors made during the development process.
