“Whining, Complaining, Lying…” Kosovo Slams Serbia Amid Protests, But Will It Hold Fresh Elections?

Kosovo Serbs held another protest in Zvecan on June 2, demanding that special forces vacate municipality buildings. This comes after protesters clashed with NATO-led peacekeepers resulting in injuries to 30 soldiers and 52 protesters. Tensions are running high between Serbia and Kosovo after clashes in Kosovo over its newly-installed mayors. The new mayors are ethnically Albanian, but have been installed in border towns where a large part of the population are ethnic Serbs. Meanwhile, the presidents of Kosovo and Serbia held talks in the presence of German and French leaders in Moldova. Kosovo's Vjosa Osmani and Serbia's Aleksandar Vucic met briefly in the presence of French President Macron and German Chancellor Scholz.
