The Australian’s Washington correspondent Adam Creighton says Republicans need to be careful “not to try and pin the blame” for the conflict between Israel and Hamas on US President Joe Biden. Mr Creighton’s comments come as Republicans are trying to blame the US prisoner swap with Israel as part of the cause for Hamas's recent attacks on Israel. The Biden administration in September secured a prisoner swap deal with Iran for five American detainees in Iran to be released in exchange for five Iranians held in America, and Iran would also regain access to $US6 billion. “I think just on this issue, we would agree these are crazy terrorists, these are horrible, shocking people, and they’ve slaughtered innocent lives,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray. “I think Republicans should be careful not to put too much of the blame on Joe Biden for this. “Personally, if I was being a political strategist, I would be a little bit careful with that.”
