Hamas ‘terrorist powerbrokers' present a 'great test' for Biden

Curtin University’s Joe Siracusa has described the conflict between Hamas and Israel as a “great test” for United States President Joe Biden. “This is a great test though of course for President Biden to see if he can do anything. He’s not doing very much now because there’s very little he can do,” Mr Siracusa said. “President Biden is reduced to talking to the Palestinian authority about what is happening in Gaza which he has no control over.” Mr Siracusa told Sky News Hamas were the “powerbrokers” in the region when it came to "terrorism" and supported militant activities in Yemen, Lebanon and Israel. “Without Iranian support Hamas wouldn’t have these weapons and wouldn’t have the wherewithal to be taking on the Israelis.” Mr Biden is currently attempting to negotiate the restoration of the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran which was first instituted under former president Barack Obama.
