U.S. House of Representatives passes a defense programs and policy bill that includes amendments targeting the Pentagon's policies on abortion access, transgender care, diversity programs, and addressing climate change. The National Governors Association incoming chair, Gov. Spencer Cox (R-UT) at the NGA annual meeting in New Jersey talks about his NGA chair initiative called 'disagree better', aimed at reducing partisan polarization on controversial issues. He says the goal is to disagree, even strongly, but not hate each other so much it gets in the way or find a compromise solution. Vice President Kamala Harris in Maryland announces investment in clean energy, the final stop on what the Biden Administration has promoted as its "Investing in America Tour". Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-IL) previews next week's markup of a bill to require the Supreme Court adopt an ethical code of conduct.
