Explained: The LATEST Twist In The Imran Khan Saga There’s been another extraordinary twist in Imran Khan’s ongoing legal drama. Despite being granted bail, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan will remain in a high-security prison for at least two weeks.   He was arrested earlier this month - and given a three-year sentence for concealing and selling state assets received while in office.  This week a court suspended his sentence but the legal victory was short-lived. The next day, a different court accused him of new charges of revealing official secrets and so he remains in detention. Imran Khan had publicly accused the US of applying diplomatic pressure to remove him from office - with threats that Pakistan, would “suffer consequences” if he wasn’t ousted.   His lawyers, who are petitioning the court for his release describe his imprisonment as ‘illogical’ and ‘unconstitutional’.   Khan has faced more than 150 legal cases since being ousted in a no-confidence vote in April 2022 - he denies all the allegations.
