‘Bad apples’: Review finds Medicare waste up to ‘$3 billion’ a year

Deloitte Access Economics Lead Partner Dr Pradeep Philip conducted an independent review of Medicare which found the cost of non-compliance, errors and fraud is around “$1.5 to 3 billion” per year. “Like any other industry ... you know that there are some bad apples,” Mr Pradeep told Sky News Australia. “We put forward some solutions that will start to identify risk better and start to deal with errors and fraud a lot better.”
