A man who broke into Windsor Castle armed with a crossbow, intending to kill the late Queen, has been jailed. Jaswant Singh Chail was sentenced to nine years behind bars over the incident at the royal residence on Christmas Day in 2021. A court has heard the 21-year-old was spurred on by his artificial intelligence "girlfriend" to carry out the attack. Mr Chail is the first person to be convicted of treason in the UK since 1981. In a televised hearing, Mr Justice Hilliard sentenced Chail to nine years with a further five years on extended licence.
