These days they add so much to videos as broll, transition footage or filler footage. But what’s the easiest way to create a time lapse? Well there are two ways, the first is by using an intervalometer, which is a device, sometimes built into your camera to tell your camera to take pictures every so often. With this method you get multiple pictures that you need to edit and compile into a video in an editor like premiere. The second way is the way I'm going to show you in this video. I am not sure if this is on every camera or not. And the way to do it on Sony and Nikon are slightly different but similar in method. I use a Canon 6D and Canon R5. Both have the ability to do both the methods above. Turn your camera to video mode. I would recommend using Av Mode as Shutter mode is good but might not give you the proper shutter amount, and manual is good but will stick with the settings you set in the beginning. With Av mode, you can set the aperture, I usually use the lowest fstop possible so I can get the most light as most of my time lapses are night shots. The next thing I set is the max ISO range. This way my camera doesn’t automatically set the ISO to 128000 or something ridiculous. I usually set it max around 3200-6400. This way, since itll be on the tripod, it does a longer shutter and gets cleaner pictures. Next go to Time Lapse – click enable and adjust the settings. See video for information. Once that’s all done get is started and leave it for several hours. Time lapses are amazing but they take a lot of time for very small amounts of video. However, they are totally worth it as they look so cool!
