This event is co-presented by Joint Centre for Bioethics (JCB), and the Centre for Vaccine Preventable Diseases (CVPD), Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and is part of the JCB Bioethics Seminar Series. We invite you to join us for a panel discussion on the ethical, equity, and implementation considerations that influence the definition of vaccine priority groups. What priorities do decision-makers balance when creating vaccine prioritization guidelines? What ethical considerations are made when allocating scarce medical resources? How can public health decision-makers ensure that diverse perspectives are included in these discussions, and that equity is centered both in the development of these guidelines, and in the allocation of the resources needed to tackle COVID-19? This panel discussion will bring together experts to discuss key ethical and equity considerations in developing vaccine prioritization guidelines, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Speakers: Dr. Matthew Tunis, Adjunct Professor, School of Epidemiology and Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa; Executive Secretary, National Advisory Committee on Immunization, Public Health Agency of Canada Dr. Maxwell Smith, Assistant Professor, School of Health Studies, Western University Caroline Lidstone-Jones, Chief Executive Officer, Indigenous Primary Health Care Council Moderator: Dr. Jeff Kwong, Interim Director, Centre for Vaccine Preventable Diseases, University of Toronto; Professor, Department of Family & Community Medicine and Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto
