French protesters storm LVMH offices, Louis Vuitton owner in Paris amid pension reform demos

French protesters stormed the Paris headquarters of the LVMH luxury group on Thursday, as people took to the streets around the country over Emmanuel Macron’s pension reforms. Videos shared on social media showed demonstrators setting off flares and waving banners after they forced their way into the building on Paris’s Avenue Montaigne. A crowd could be seen heading up an escalator leading to the building’s upper floors, where Bernard Arnault, the world’s richest man and the chief executive of LVMH, has his offices. More than 100 protesters were seen milling around the wood-panelled entrance hall of the building while others filled the street outside, many waving flags of the railway workers’ union Sud Rail. “If you’re looking for money to finance pensions, take it from the pockets of billionaires,” said Fabien Villedieu, a representative of the Sud Rail union, stressing that the protest was “symbolic and peaceful”.
